Several early releases have been genuinely impressive, and pricing is notably accessible, so the value stands out. Behind the project is Christian Gullbrandsson, whose long history in Swedish coffee roasting and influence on the Gothenburg scene set a high calibration. The roastery is still young, with depth over time yet to be proven, but the direction and execution are very promising.
Background
Launched in late 2024 in Skärhamn, Quo was founded by Christian Gullbrandsson, Sarah Gerlam Madura, and Hayden Moyle. Christian is a long time figure in Swedish specialty coffee with years at da Matteo, co founding Morgon Coffee Roasters in 2018, and placing third at the 2014 World Coffee Roasting Championship. Hayden brings bar and events experience, including producing the Swedish Aeropress Championship, while Sarah leads brand and operations. Together they built Quo around a clear Nordic intent: producer first and lot specific buying, single origin selections with classic processing at the core, and light roasting aimed at clarity, sweetness, and place. The identity is rooted in the rural coast community, with transparent communication and impact work such as the Fresh Coffee Clean Ocean sail freight partnership.

Panel evaluation
Cups read clean and sweet with tidy acidity, especially on washed lots from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Kenya, and naturals are handled with restraint so fruit stays composed rather than loud. Labels and product pages are producer forward and information rich, which makes it easy to connect variety, process, and lot to what is in the cup. Given how new the roastery is, consistency is already promising and should rise as more seasons pass.

Quo Coffee in Skärhamn is a small harbour-side roastery café in the old customs house, where the bar sits almost on top of the roaster with views out over the guest harbour. At the counter, biodynamically grown specialty coffees bought with transparent, quality-based pricing are roasted on site and served as clean espresso and filter, making this a quietly serious coffee stop that still feels very rooted in Tjörn.
