Father Carpenter
Built alongside Fjord through founder Kresten Thøgersen, Father Carpenter helped set a clarity first standard in Berlin and has influenced the European specialty scene. Labels are transparent and producer first, and cups are consistently clean, sweet, and place expressive. Pricing is fair for the quality, making the coffees easy to recommend day to day.
Background
Founded in Berlin in 2015 by Kresten Thøgersen, Father Carpenter grew from a courtyard coffee bar in Mitte into a small group with roasting at its core. The project is closely linked to Fjord Coffee Roasters, which Thøgersen co founded with Morgan Love of Silo; that partnership shaped Father Carpenter’s sourcing and clarity first roast philosophy from day one. Their purpose is stated simply, to elevate hospitality and gastronomy in Berlin by providing a positive, authentic, and memorable experience. Today the house style is producer first and lot specific, with light roasting that keeps sweetness, clarity, and place in front across both locations.
