Drop Coffee Roasters
Founded in Stockholm in 2009, Drop Coffee evolved from a small coffee bar into a roastery known for producer first, single origin sourcing and light, precise roasting that highlights sweetness, clarity, and place. Led by Joanna Alm Leighton and Stephen Leighton, Drop helped set Swedish expectations for transparent labels and steady, seasonal quality, with cups that read clean and well defined across methods.
Background
Founded in Stockholm in 2009 near Mariatorget, Drop began as a small coffee bar and started roasting the following year on a tiny in-shop roaster before moving in 2012 to a dedicated Diedrich facility to serve a growing wholesale audience. Today the company is owned and run by Joanna Alm Leighton and Stephen Leighton; Alm is a three-time Swedish Coffee Roasting Champion with multiple World Roasting Championship podium finishes, and her influence helped set expectations in Sweden for transparent, light roasting and producer-forward communication. The philosophy remains steady—seasonal single-origin lots, long-term relationships at origin, and roasting aimed at sweetness, clarity, and place.

Panel evaluation
Cups land bright and sweet with a clean line of acidity and tidy finishes; filter shows clear separation and espresso stays transparent rather than heavy. The range reads confidently single origin with classic processing at the core, and seasonal shifts are gentle so the style holds its shape. Packaging and product pages are producer-first and information-rich, making farm, variety, process, and harvest easy to find and easy to brew from.
